Our interactive writing this morning focused on all the changes we see and experience as the season transitions to Fall. The children had great ideas and we were busy composing and then recording our ideas on chart paper.
When we do our interactive writing in the mornings all the children have a whiteboard, a marker, and an eraser so everyone is participating in the stretching out of the words we are writing. This allows the children to hear the sounds in the words they are writing. Once we have worked on the words As a group, I select a student to come up to the easel and record it on the chart paper. This way our activity is a shared pen experience. I write and support what the children cannot do by themselves. This a powerful tool to use in teaching the children about the writing process.
Today I had all the children write about their favorite aspect of Fall. After explaining the activity and having the children talk with one another about their ideas, I sent them off to write! I am very pleased with what they wrote. Here are some of their masterpieces.
I am so proud of their efforts!
